Support Program for Migrant Workers

Are you a temporary foreign worker living or working in Squamish? Do you have questions about your work permit, life in Canada, or feel uncertain about your rights?

The Welcome Centre’s Support Program for Migrant Workers is here to guide you to the available services and resources.

Have a Closed Work Permit, an OWP-V, or maintained status?  

Everyone living or working in Squamish with a closed work permit, Open Work Permit for Vulnerable Persons, or maintained status from a work permit is eligible to access our services. Family members are eligible, too! Schedule an appointment or learn more by calling, emailing, or just stopping by. All our services are free and confidential.

Services

All program services are free and confidential.
One-on-one appointments
Get individualized support in English or Spanish adjusting to life in Canada, information about rights, and assistance accessing essential services such as housing, healthcare, and legal advice. Interpretation for other languages can be provided by appointment.
Workshops
Learn about topics relevant to you, such as your rights at work, how to read your pay stub, and more. Email us at miwow@welcomesquamish.ca to learn about our upcoming events.
Recreational Activities
Join for fun trips out into Squamish’s great outdoors with peers. In 2023, we went hiking and eagle watching. In 2024, we went rock climbing!
Outreach and Education
Find us out and about in the community, learning more about migrant workers, the challenges you face, and advocating for your rights.
