Our English language learning opportunities are often changing, depending on volunteer availability and funding. In the past, we’ve run IELTS & CELPIP test prep courses. Now, we’re offering English for Beginners twice weekly.

Free Loaner Laptops
Do you have a task that requires a computer, but no laptop to use to make it happen? The Squamish Welcome Centre’s Digital Divide Project offers free laptop rentals to folks with an address in Squamish.
Laptops are rented for free for 1-week, with extensions available.
Stop by during opening hours or email tech@welcomesquamish.ca to borrow a laptop.

Digital Divide Project
The Digital Divide Project helps people gain the skills and resources they need to navigate online spaces safely. In addition to our laptop loan program, public-access computer lab, andd drop-in help on Wednesdays, we also offer summer programming!

Chess Club
Chess Club is open to all – beginners and experienced players alike! Come join for a game or two (or three or four) on Saturdays from 11am to 3pm at the Squamish Welcome Centre.

Intercultural Community Garden
This is a collaborative project with Squamish Newcomer Services and everyone is welcome to join our gatherings to plant and tend the garden!
If food is the great welcome to new lands, let this garden be a beacon of fresh sharing! Learn together about gardening, local nature, and cooking.

The Urgent Needs Fund
The Urgent Needs Fund provides small-scale financial support to people in Squamish experiencing an emergency or crisis who don’t have access to other support.
Participants of Welcome Centre programs and Squamish Newcomer Services can apply with the help of a staff member.
Tax-deductible donations can be made through Canada Helps.

Squamish Community Bookstore
The Squamish Community Bookstore is volunteer-run and is one of our largest programs, and it definitely gets the most visitors! Books are donated by community members like you, curated by volunteers, and sold at a sliding scale starting at $3 a book.

Support Program for Migrant Workers
The Squamish Welcome Centre’s Support Program for Migrant Workers offers 1:1 support and group activities for anyone in Squamish who is part of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
